The fully automatic card inspection
system KIS was the first working card inspection system
worldwide and in is entirely still unequalled. The design
was made under the premise not to damage the card during
the whole handling and inspection process. This, of
course, included the demand that the cards have not
to be handled manually completely from the infeed to
the outfeed. The system was continously developed further
in order to cope with the customer`s requirements.
Cards contained in the LOUDA -
standard magazines are placed on a converyor belt which
transfers the magazine to the separating station where
each individual card is separated and brought on a rotating
vacuum drum. Exposures are taken, 2 of each surface
of the card, each 1 by means of the monochrome camera
for the inspection of the surface with regard to mechanical
damages or faults and 1 by the clour camera to inspect
the printing and the optical features of the card with
regard to colour tones, appearance and shape. The set-up
for this inspection with all the appropriate tolerances
depending on the requirements of the different areas
of the surface has been carried out prior at the set-up-station.
After evalution the cards are sorted automatically into
a LOUDA-magazine for accepted cards and into another
LOUDA-magazine for the reject cards. Both of these magazines
are brought off the machine automatically on belt conveyors.
The conveyors are capable to buffer each 10 magazines
at the infeed and the outfeed end. Thus, the operator
needs not to stay with the machine all the time for
serving it.
